EarthCheck is widely regarded as the world’s most scientifically rigorous programme that leads to sustainable tourism certification. EarthCheck measures key environmental indicators such as energy and water consumption, and total waste production as well as community responsibility.
The Resort submitted a year’s worth of operational data, which was compared to other communities of a similar kind. And as a result Bronze Benchmarked status was achieved. By using the EarthCheck tool, InterContinental Bali Resort will continue to benchmark local environmental and social issues; such as biodiversity conservation, environmental investment and enhanced community socio-economic benefits.
General Manager of InterContinental Bali Resort, Mr. Phil Riley, comments, “The proper implementation of eco-friendly practices together with our ongoing corporate social responsibility programme has been a main focus for some time. I am delighted that our efforts have been acknowledged and that EarthCheck will continue to help us navigate the journey towards minimising the Resort’s impact on the island of Bali.”
InterContinental Bali Resort is now entitled to use the EarthCheck logo to showcase this accomplishment. Over the coming year the Resort hopes to go above beyond to reach the next EarthCheck certification level.
